A Practical Introduction to CSS Grid

There's plenty of buzz about CSS Grid, but from a distance, it can seem intimidating - especially for developers who don't primarily write CSS. To be honest, Grid feels daunting for good reason: the Grid layout module added over 30 new properties, values, and units to CSS!

While all 30+ of those additions are useful, we can optimize our learning: in this talk, we'll learn just 8 new details. These 8 pieces of Grid spec will enable us up to build the vast majority of the layouts we'll use in real life!

In this talk, we'll cover a brief history of CSS layout methods, the 8 pieces of Grid code that allow us to create almost every layout, and some practical concerns for using and maintaining Grid code.

Our own James Steinbach will be speaking. Doors will open at 6:30; talk will start at 7.
