Talk Description

Team Lead, Tech Lead, Staff, Principal, Manager... WTF does all this even mean? Leadership in engineering is often squishy and multi-faceted, and doesn't require people management to climb the leadership ladder. Morgan and Matt will break down their years of experience leading engineering teams and individuals in everywhere from scrappy startups to corporate behemoths, demystify the differences between IC and people leadership, and help answer the question: What ladders do you want to climb in your career?

Speaker Bios

Matt is a Staff Engineer and recovering Senior Engineering Manager at Aetna Health, a CVS Company. Matt is also the original founder of this meetup. Morgan is an Engineering Manager who sometimes regrets her decision to be a people leader at CertifID, a fraud prevention startup. They both would rather be mountain biking or skiing, but here we are.
