Getting adjusted and working from home in the midst of everything going on in the world may have been a tough change or perhaps a seamless transition for some. Many Colorado companies were able to transition quickly and effectively. Either way you’re here now, in your own space, and settling into staying connected with your team over new modalities.
Hopefully, you have a daily routine and are feeling more comfortable with the sudden changes. So how do we maintain productivity, our sanity, and connection?
If you don’t have a routine, create a daily schedule for yourself to stay focused on the work
Assign a workspace in your home and if it’s possible set it up in a place where you can shut the door at the end of the day to create a physical separation for yourself. Get inspired and create a space you’ll enjoy. dream office space with what you have.
People in leadership roles may need to provide more one-on-one support to your team members. Check in to make sure all team members have the equipment they need at home to be successful.
Maintain self-care by continuing to fill yourself up outside of work to combat impacts on your mental health. Do what works for you; go for a walk, read a book, go for a bike ride, and continuing to connect with your loved ones.
Be mindful of your news and social media intake. Sometimes too much exposure to news outlets can create overwhelming feelings. It may be helpful to give yourself a break to be more present and get some relief.
Engage with your co-workers. Continue working with your co-workers to maintain the workflow. Don’t forget to engage with co-workers on a secondary level, too. At Code, we have a weekly virtual happy hour that allows us to socially engage with each other and laugh as a team, which is very much needed today. Our senior recruiter, Tara Brodene, created a daily check in rating scale that’s a quick and easy way for all of us to connect at the beginning of the day. Connection and communication like these helps build individual and team morale while we’re all working to keep our loved ones safe by staying home.
